Maranta leuconeura, also known as prayer plant, is a species of flowering plant in the family Marantaceae, native to the Brazilian tropical forests. It gets its common name from the fact that its leaves stay flat during the day and then fold up like praying hands at night.
This plant prefers bright, indirect sunlight.
Keep the soil evenly moist all of the time, but never let the roots get soggy. When watering, use water that is at least at room temperature if not slightly warm. This plant loves high humidity.
Prayer plants are non-toxic to cats and dogs and is a great air purifier.
