While they can withstand full sun and handle low light, indirect sunlight is ideal for a snake plant. The Snake plant can easily rot so make sure the soil is well-drained and don't water it too much (especially in winter). Allow the soil to dry in between waterings.
The Snake Plant cleans air better than most other indoor plants as it has the ability to absorb excessive amounts of carbon monoxide. Additionally, it emits oxygen and filters other toxins from the air such as benzene, xylene, trichloroethylene and formaldehyde.
The plant is mildly toxic to pets as it does contain saponins; natural chemicals produced by the plant to protect it from insects, microbes and fungi. The level of toxin, however, is relatively low and the consequences for a pet that ingests the plant are typically limited to gastrointestinal upset.
