Sphaeropteris robusta, synonym Cyathea robusta, is a fern in the family Cyatheaceae. The specific epithet alludes to its robust habit. It comes from an island called Lord Howe.
This beautiful big fern grows up best in filtered light to partial shade. It can be planted in garden beds or alternatively in pots but needs to be protected by frost in winter.
They need a climate with high humidity to keep the fronds and trunk from drying out. Keep the soil moist but not soggy.
Feed this plant twice yearly with osmocote, dynamic lifter or a liquid fertiliser.
This fern is pet friendly.
